Rocky Acres Goat Ranch is located eight
miles south of Henryetta Oklahoma. Just 45 minutes south of Tulsa, and
one-hour East of Oklahoma, City. Right now our 100% Kiko herd sires
consist of a solid brown double-bred son of “lover boy”, and a solid
black son of “Nick” also “Big Boy” a Goldmine son and a Goliath
grandson. Our Full blood Boer Herd sire is “Odin” the highest weight
gaining full blood boer on the San-Angelo feed test in 2005.
Rocky Acres Goat Ranch goal has always been
to use large population genetics to breed for the best meat goat
possible. A versatile and hardy animal that displays good mothering
abilities, raises a large percentage of her body weight, every year for
the commercial breeder.
We generally keep only a
few select buckling’s, which we then send to performance testing
facilities and all others are castrated. Any
Bucklin that fails to perform are taken out of the Breeder gene pool.
Possibly going to a commercial grade.
We breed for several
different types of meat goat: 100% NZ Kiko, Purebred Kiko, Full blood
Boer and Full Blood Spanish. We also Keep Full Blood Dairy Bucks
consisting of Nubian, Saanen, Alpine. The latter bucks are used on a
Doe if she has continuously lower than average ADG compared to the rest
of the Herd.
