International Kiko Goat Association, Inc. Formed to Support Members Efforts
to Preserve and Develop the Kiko Breed

February 27, 2004. Dr. H. Patel of Bluff City, Tennessee, announced today the formation of the
International Kiko Goat Association, Inc. (IKGA). The IKGA is being established to support the
breeders of Kiko goats in their efforts to preserve and further develop the Kiko breed. The Kiko
goat was introduced into the United States in the early 1990’s from New Zealand. Here in the U.S.,
the Kiko breed has achieved recognition as an exceptional meat producing goat that is hardy
under natural conditions and economical to raise. The Kiko meat product is well accepted in many
consumer markets.

Dr. Patel and other avid Kiko breeders who join him in founding this organization state that all the
programs within the IKGA will be based on the following principles:

· Membership Ownership: Our members enjoy full participation in all IKGA policymaking and group
benefits. All new and constructive ideas and suggestions are welcome.

· Better Breeding Through Science: We believe in helping our members apply a scientific
approach to their breed improvement programs.

· Practical Business Principles: The Association applies sound business principals to its internal
and external business affairs.

· Economical Production of Goat Meat: We believe in supporting our members in the
development of smart management practices that maximize profits in the marketplace.

The IKGA plans to provide its members with many services and benefits which include educational
opportunities, goat registration, registration transfers, a membership directory, a handbook for
novice and experienced breeders, and an open forum for the exchange of ideas. The IKGA also
has plans to offer a scholarship program that members will be eligible to apply for.
Official registration classifications of Kiko goats are planned that will provide identification and
traceability of the original New Zealand bloodlines imported to the U.S. The registry will also give
maximum flexibility to the Kiko goat breeder that plans to conduct a breeding up program to
produce an animal with fullblood status. Several of the registration classifications planned for the
IKGA are new and unique in the meat goat industry. Classifications include:

- New Zealand Fullblood –100% New Zealand Import Bloodline
- American Premier Fullblood –98.44% and up to New Zealand Import Bloodline
- Purebred – 87.5% and up to American Premier Fullblood Bloodline
- Percentage – 75% and 50%
- Cross bred registry – 50% Boer & 50% Kiko (BoKi*), 75% Kiko & 25% Boer (American MeatMaker*)
*The BoKi and the American MeatMaker are trademarked names of the International Kiko Goat
Association, Inc.
